Birthday Boy Quilt

I made this quilt for Sam for his first birthday. I got the pattern from Quilt Taffy a store on ebay after seeing one on this blog. I just LOVE the way it turned out especially the ragged, vintagey (not a real word) squares.
I now want to make one for everyone I know. Hope Sam LOVES to cuddle with it. Now I have the quilting bug and cannot wait to make more and more and more....

Friends are the BEST!

I had a great day! My friend Brittany and her little boy Rhett came over and we made cookies and celebrated her birthday. She is a Valentine's baby and I won't be able to be with her on her birthday. We had a ball and the boys were all so good. We ate hummus, spinach dip, and crackers and cheese. I even got her very favorite Pomegranate 7-up. I always have so much fun with her and she is such a blessing. Her little boy lights up my life also...I got to cuddle him a lot too! When Jack woke from his nap we sang Happy Birthday and had chocolate cake and cheesecake. Sam and Rhett both thought they were quite tasty!Brittany(isn't she pretty...look at that adorable hat) with Rhett and Jack.

I was wrong...

I thought I had the best chocolate chip cookie recipe EVER given to me by my sister.

But, boy, was I wrong....
This is.
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
2 1/2 cubes butter
1 1/4 c. dark brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 2/3 c. flour
2 T. corn starch
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. milk chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and combine; stir in chocolate chips. Chill the dough before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes (using a 1.5" scoop).

Found it on this blog and it proclaimed it self to be the best so I decided to whip some up for the boys. Let me tell you...these are some good cookies. Try them...I think you will agree.

A Work in Progress

I am working on a vintage baby quilt that I ordered form Quilt Taffy on ebay. I have everything cut and laid out and am going to pin tomorrow and start sewing. This is a very special gift to my little Sammers who turns 1 in 3 weeks. I will post pics when finished...wish me luck.

During breakfast this morning Mr. Jack decided he needed to style his hair using applesauce. So a few minutes before we were supposed to leave for school I threw him in the tub and gave him a bath...he is just so silly. I love two!

Tour Tuesday - Jack's Room

I thought today would be a good day to show you Jack's room....especially since we are going to be changing it up soon to transition him to a big boy bed. His room is based on vintage firetrucks and my husband painted the mural that goes all the way around the room and on to the ceiling. Hope you enjoy...the pics look faded in all these pics but the mural is really soft colors.

We included this piece because we love Disney World so much and what an amazing piece of artwork done by a California firefighter. It was the only painting done at the time that had Mickey touching a human.
