Toby was home for four days straight this weekend...needless to say my blog suffered. We had a great weekend working on home projects, playing with the kids, and going to Boo at the Zoo.
Our main home project that we worked on was sprucing up our laundry room. Bless Our Nest has inspired many laundry room makeovers and all of them have inspired me (and Mr. Tanner). He is great about getting involved in my projects and even gives some pretty good ideas. He quickly went to work making a table for in between our washer and dryer and I got busy creating a skirt, cleaning out, organizing, thrifting, and spray painting. We still need to paint the laundry room (we are going to use the color in our hallways...it is called Camel Tan). We are also going to turn a piece of antique china Toby bought me into a clock. It should be pretty nice when all finished.
I found the lamp, well actually two lamps like this, at a garage sale for only $2 (gave the other to my mom). It needs a larger shade but for right now it will work. We will hang the LAUNDRY sign (had it forever) after we finish painting and I will post pics of the clock when finished. The chalkboard was one we had in our kitchen awhile back and Toby suggested painting over some of the stuff on it and use it in there. We added a ribbon and it worked. The watering can I found at GoodWill for .75. STEAL! Everything else I already had. I love using the lavender linen water on my sheets. It rocks! This is the only "girlie" room in my house and since I do all the laundry it is appropriate.Boo at the Zoo was a blast. We went with all our friends and had a great time. We got tons of candy and Jack got to ride the train with Daddy, Nicci, and Hayden. Our little elephant (Sam) got so tired he turned over in his stroller and took a nap. It was precious. Fun was had by all.
Today is Toby's last day off before he goes back to work. We will be working on final preparations for Halloween this week and are going to really get going on Christmas. Wow, the year has flown by. I still can't believe Jack is two and that Sam is pulling up and starting to walk around things. They grow so fast.
Oh yeah, only six weeks to Disney!!!! I am getting PUMPED!

I like what you have done with your laundry room. The curtains are a great idea. Of course how can you go wrong w a little shabby chic, huh? The items on the shelf & dryer really make the room, Great finds too. Might even make me do laundry-nah, I doubt it, but I'd stare at the room often :))
The laundry room looks sooo pretty! Great job on there! I love the fabric you chose, and the shabby chic accessories look great on the shelf! I also think it's great you used things you had, and got inexpensively to create such a wonderful space!! :) Kudos to your hubby for his help too!

I just stumbled onto your blog this morning and I LOVE what you did with your laundry room. That's really stunning!
I LOVE a cute laundry room (I'm Kelli and I found your blog through another blog, through another blog...that whole thing). Yours is adorable. Very crafty. When I get my dream home I'll have a cute laundry room too, you've inspired me!
I just want to add that I saw pictures of your kids' bathroom and it's adorable too! Did you makes those letters? I want to redo our kids' bathroom and I like the idea of a word on the wall. We have ducks right now but it's time for a change.
LOVE IT! I am so going to copy the idea of handing fabic from the clothig rail! I was just looking at my aundry room over the weekend wondering how to spruce it up! Thanks for sharing!
I love your laundry room! I also love how you have the powdered detergent in a glass container. I just bought one similar to that one, and I think I'm going to have to switch to powdered detergent! I also love the colors! I need a feminine room in my house! Also, your kids are sooo cute! I love the elephant costume! We were planning on going to Boo at our zoo, but it rained all Saturday. Maybe next year!
Your laundry room looks so cute!!! I thought I was about done with mine, but now I want to add a curtain under my cabinets like you did. It would cover up the ugly cords and hoses. Love everything you have done!
Your laundry room is adorable! Love those shabby chic patterns! Boo at the zoo sounds fun. The costumes are all so cute!
