I am realizing more and more every day that motherhood is just a series of initiations. Your little ones are just a test to see if you are up to the game. Yesterday Jack and Sam were both doing a great job of it. Poor little Sam was having trouble with his poopies. He used to go every day but lately has been having difficulty and yesterday was the worst of it. When he tried to go he would pull his little legs up, get red in the face, and let out the saddest squeal. I didn't know what to do but knew I had to help him in some way. Sammers is so sweet it just broke my heart for him to hurt this way. So we go to his changing table and take off the diaper. The situation down there did not look good. He definitely was going to need some assistance. Enter the Vaseline, gloves, thermometer, and wipes...and the extraction started. After much diligence on Sam and I's part we got that little hard poopie out. Needless to say, I never though that part of being a mommy was physically removing your child's BM for them. Meanwhile, Jack decided he could generally do anything as long as he said, "Sorry Mommy" in the sweetest little voice afterwards. That anything included pulling Roxy's hair, laying on his brother, biting Mommy, touching the fireplace, and the list goes on and on. There is no real way to explain appropriate uses for words to a 20 month old....trust me I tried. Also, Jack thought that it was fine for a toddler to stay up until 9 p.m. last night. He kept getting up and wanting to watch a "show" and then decided that he should have some Skittles and asked with a "please". It would be so much easier to get mad at him if he didn't talk in the sweetest voice. Even after the most trying days of unexpected events I am loving the initiation that they put me through each day and all I have to say is....Game On!
