Goodie, Goodie, Counter Tops

I just got the call. My new granite counter tops will be installed on the 14th. Hopefully a new fantastic backsplash to follow the next few days and a two year old birthday party on the 18th with a fantastic new (well almost new) kitchen. We have been in the state of remodel for a few weeks and I cannot wait till it is done. I will post lots of pics when it is finished. Here we are doing demo a few weeks ago. It was ugly.

Also, my heart is so sad today because my friends 10 month old little boy Hudson broke his little femur today. I hope that he is allright and comes through this stronger then ever. My heart is aching for him, his Mommy and Daddy, and his entire famliy. All our prayers are sent your way Hudson.

Prayers for Brittany

I am blessed to be great friends with Brittany. She is such a dependable and true friend to me and we have so much fun together chatting about our families, sharing decorating tips, coming up with crafts, and talking about the world. Her family is so very special to me and they are a blessing to us. I am asking that everyone keep her and her family in your prayers this week. I take comfort in the fact that God will keep her safe and wrap her in His love. The Tanner's love you Britt and we are with you every step of the way!

Sunday School and Ghouls

This morning started early for me. I heard Jack around 6:30 which is about 2 hours earlier than normal. He was wide awake with lots of kisses to hand out. Sammers was still fast asleep for another hour. I got up after cuddling with Jack and Toby and started decorating cookies. I got all the base color done before church and felt like I was in a pretty good place for the day.

I teach the 4 year old Sunday school class and it is so inspiring to hear their simple understanding of God and His love. They know what makes God happy and makes him sad. They know that Jesus loved them so much he died for them. And most importantly that God is always their for them. Their simple faith renews my faith and reminds me that it IS that simple. God loves us and in turn we should love and honor Him.

After church we had lunch with Toby's mom who came down for the day and enjoyed some BBQ. She played with the boys and let Toby and I get some stuff done. Her and I then went to a little antique store in Mansfield and had a ball. She found lots of goodies for herself and I found a few too. My favorite find was a silver lid that I am going to hang with a plate hanger in my bedroom with other silver lids that I am hoping to find ( I will show a pic when I have the finished product). I think they are beautiful and I thought this might be a neat way to showcase them. I also found a cherub statue candle holder that is now holding a little nest in my bedroom. Reminds me of my two little cherubs.

Just finished up the cookies! They look quite fun and spooky. Over 100 of them total. That is a lot of decorating. Now I have to finish packaging them and deliver. Good thing I love to decorate cookies. I am off to TV land. I love Sunday night shows.

Flour, Butter, and Boys

Today I spent most of my day working on a cookie order I have for Halloween cookies. I needed to bake over 100 of them. I made up five batches of my No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe and started rolling out dough. Needless to say, my kitchen was a mess. I literally used 5 pounds of butter and over 30 cups of flour. In between the baking frenzy going on in my house my two little guys were acting quite silly. They wanted to play in Jack's crib and were peeking through the slats and wrestling on the floor. Jack also wanted tons of cookies and candy that he saw laying around the house. SUGAR RUSH! My husband came home tonight and while we were getting them ready for bed Jack wanted them both to wear their towels on their heads. The silliness continued until bed time. Now everyone is fast to sleep and I have over 100 cookies to decorate......ughhh!!! Maybe I will watch a movie tonight with Toby and take care of the cookeis in the morning. We'll see. Hope everyone had a great Saturday and I will post pics of the finished cookies tomorrow.

Canton Trade Days

My mom, Sam, and I headed out early this morning to go to Canton. It is a small town in east Texas that has a trade day the first weekend of every Month! It is SO much fun. There is everything there and it is HUGE! I got a few fall decor items that I think were precious and unique. The best thing I got though was some stuff to do some projects I have been wanting to do and lots of tassels and trims. That is always super fun. Oh yeah, I also got my Christmas wrap. Can't wait to show you that. I LOVE TO WRAP! It was a beautiful day out and it was nice to hang with my mom. I barely got back in time for pick up at Jack's school. He had a nice little fall day himself...they cut open a pumpkin and explored the inside. He also planted a pumpkin seed. What a big day! Hope you are enjoying fall as much as we are....even though it is still in the mid to high 80s here.

Little Sweet Treats

So I see all of the little darlings in their adorable overalls and thought that my little niece, Ava, needed a pair. I wanted her to have a "cute" not scary pair so I went with my fave thing about Halloween, candy corns! These took no time to make and no money. I got the overalls from Kid to Kid for $4 (you all know that really means $4.99) and the fabric was just a 1/4 of a yard so about a $1.50 and I had all of the ribbons and accent fabrics. They took no time and are adorable on her. I will post a pic when my sister sends me one of her wearing them. Too cute!

I so love all of the tassels out there and googled to find a tutorial on how to make them. I wanted to try today but the kiddos were sleeping so I did not have the chance to make it to a craft store so I was at my mom's and used her craft room. We had everything to make that one and I think it turned out cute for my first tassel without any resources (her craft room rocks! I'll post pics one day!). I am anxious to make more...just for fun around the house.

Happy Fall Y'all

I have been SO inspired by many blogs I have been introduced to lately. I love decorating my home for any reason from daily life, parties, to holidays but have been in a bit of a rut lately. I had several projects that needed to be done but have been lazy! So yesterday was the day! I did so much. (Lots of spray painting) It was a bit insane. I woke up this morning around 5 because I think my mind was running so much with ideas. Not only did I finish a few projects that I was working on for the house but I decorated completely for fall.

I was really excited to get this chair finished and the side table next to it. I found the table for $7 (or $7.99 - I always justify purchases by rounding them down), spray painted it, added a little lamp, and poof...a new little seating arrangement. Thanks to my friend Brittany who so generously gave me the adorable chair. It used to be green but now is red and I had the cushion made.

My favorite project that I did yesterday though was painting and adorning pumpkins. I just used an acrylic paint and glaze and gave the pumpkins a distressed look than used a very fine glitter and added some glass beads. I love them and they look very classy yet still a fall decoration. I am very pleased with how they came out.

I also found some really great buys at Home Goods for some extra Halloween decor. I LOVE the "Trick or Treat Smell my Feet" sign that I got. It really makes me smile. My other fave find was this custom made pillow. The "Trick or Treat" is cross-stitched. I am so going to cross stitch something for Christmas and make a pillow like this.

I have so many more things I would love to create for fall but my little guy Jack is turning 2 in a few weeks and I need to finish up details for his party. I also need to get baking and finish up my Halloween cookies. I will post pics when I finish. They are super cute.

Yesterday was a great day. Jack went to school so Sam and I ran around gathering items for all my little projects. He was a trooper getting in and out of the car so much. He has really started crawling well and is chasing me around the house as fast as hit little arms and legs will take him. I need to figure out what they are going to be for Halloween. I was thinking that they could be rock stars or I thought it would be cute for Sam to be a skunk. Not sure what I am going to do....we will see.

I am sure my little ones will be up soon. Can't wait to see their little sleepy early morning smiles. That is so the best part of the day.
